Typeface Design

This project was my first experience in type design. I learned about the components of type design when I was taking a class in brand design and creative direction, which we then applied in the process of designing a typface.

Harmony Script is inspired by cursive and calligraphy, two forms of writing that I grew up with. The hardest part about creating this typeface was likely getting all of the connecting strokes to properly work. I soleved these issues by making modifications to the letters using the phrase “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog”. By creating this phrase with all of the first letters capitalized and then connecting other capital letters to lowercase to make sure they connected properly, I was able to create a working cursive typeface.

Harmony Script is a decorative font, but I aim to continue working on other versions that include varied strokes like true calligraphy, longer connecting strokes to allow for more spaced out letters, and a bold version.
